Looked on the web and some companies are offering full warrantied rebuilds at 2k. Makes them a cheap car still if you have to have it done once in say 4 years ownership!!!! Buy for 2k, rebuild for 2k, sell for 1.5k, thats 2.5k lost over 4 years. Ive lost 8k on my Audi in 2 years

Don't forget to budget in servicing costs. The chances are that because XYZ have rebuilt the engine, they'll want to service it as well, to keep it in warranty terms - or at least most places will when I looked into.

There was a massive RX8 specialist car site on the A30 nr Hook, Hampshire that literally had them stored everywhere. There must of been near on 100 of them. That's gone now and didn't last long. Warranty companies must hate these cars and have a book on "why not to pay out" more so than other cars.

There is also a good specialists place nr Reading called Ro-teckniks who know them inside out although I'm sure they'll be a similar place near you.

I quite liked mine even though it drank fuel for fun no matter how you drove it and the car tax was £460 or something like that. If you think Cossie paranoid keeps you awake then RX8 is just as bad. Even though my engine was tested and had excellent results, at times I couldn't help think that "it might not start" - not a nice feeling so it had to make way for something else.

Awesome car, cr4p engine design. If someone done a cheap simple kit to put a decent donkey in it, I'd probably buy another within the next hour.

The Saab turbo motor seems a good conversion, there was one knocking about on the forums for £2000 odd a few months back,as Martin said though there was some kerfuffle regarding a steering rack and it wasn't a totally straightforward conversion in anyway although well worth it as like the Audi 20vt that engine is very tuneable, rwd, great handling/looks and jap build quality elsewhere.
