I thought you ment money not miles

for me

All my cars except the 3dr have over 100k, the Sharan is about 1.5k short of 200k and is a great motor for the family

i once owned a toyota supra 3.0 twin turbo with 46k on clock. turned a shell on ther crank and such an expensive repair at the time needed to save for it. bought a cheap '87 rover 827 vitesse with 280k on clock for £220. kept the car for 4 years and had only a front wishbone in the 3 mot's i put it through. bought it in '93 (iirc) sold in '97 for £850 with around 350k on it. never once let me down apart from failed to start on first frosty morning one winter due to battery. as for the supra, repaired and sold on at a big financial loss. slightly off topic but that is one of around 5 cars i would be happy to purchase and restore.

These days I don't think 100k is that big a deal at all for most cars, provided the car is looked after.

100k is nothing in modern cars aslong as they have been treated to regular oil changes and other service parts,

I know of a few Audi A3's pusing big power with high mileage.

There was a guy running 350bhp through a A3 1.8t track car with 250k on the clock.
Never missed a beat.

Very interesting thread.
I'm looking to buy an audi A4 estate tdi (b7 shape.) and didn't want to get one at over 100k
But now I might broaden my search to ones slightly over.

It's foolish to buy on mileage these days, should buy on condition and history!

When you realise it's just a number that doesn't have a lot of significance then it's becomes normal and you don't even worry about it.

E36 has 160k miles on the clock and not even a tick from cold
M5 has 130k miles and good for another 100k miles

It depends what you buy, I wouldn't buy a Ford/Range rover with that sort of miles on it for example.

It's all relative I suppose, don't expect 100% reliability and no expense on maintennce, or you're a fool. But then don't pay over the odds for the car.

I used to think of it as a negative but I don't anymore. Sold my fiesta with 35k on the clock to buy my beemer with 88k, knowing full well that I was going to notch up well over 100k in it.

I've now hit 103k and touch wood its been brilliant so far, guys in the garage always say how good condition it's in compared to others they've seen. I've driven an E46 M3 with 40k on the clock and it was rattling, squeeking and had various problems. Just depends on the car and how it's been looked after!

I had an m reg bmw 325tds 245k big intercooler, hybrid turbo running 240bhp never ever let me down was used to its full potential many times. sold it (broke my heart) bought a low mile 70k 330d did the same to that it was far less reliable swirl flaps, electric egr, traction control issues to many electrics nowadays.

I bought a 3 year old passat beginning of the year, 100k miles and full vw service history from new, its a superb car, i've stuck over 10k miles on it myself.

http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/prices.../?yearplate=92

I paid £8250 from a main dealer!

Will be very similar to my passat, mines been perfect at that milage. Any niggles would of been fixed, and as long as cambelt has been done will be as good as new but loads cheaper! Mine was £2k off book price at the dealer due to higher milage.
