Default Ecus and relays

Been looking through the Haynes that I actually had to buy in the end and the info in there isn't perfect infact very far from it lol.My question is most things that im aware work off a relay from the ecu.Im no auto electrician here im more trying to work things out off the top off my head.If I was to run a fuel pump for example off a switch in the car I assume I would need a 4 pin relay pin 87 permanent live, 86 switchable live,30 accessory to ie fuel pump and 85 to earth. The point im trying to make here is I have no fan on my car at all and at the minute im using a push button to turn it on which isn't good at all.Ive found the wire from the ecu that would make the fan work but could I add that into a relay to kick the fan in at right temperature when the rest of the bits are in operation.Im assuming the wire from the fan would be connected to the wire from the ecu as a live. Can anyone point me in the right direction lol.The rest of the wiring is plugged in for the coolant sensor and fan and so on.
