Who's that lad on here that's dropped a 2.5 ST engine into an much older car? (Anglia I think)
He did loads of work himself and its of a very high standard. He could be worth a shout but I can't remember his name.

If I was on & told them what we really did on the roads in the 60's all modded cars would be banned remember no Max speed limit back then
.
We had races & record times between towns. My Tadley-Basingstoke record of 6m 56s stood for altime as the new limits stopped that game its a 25minute journey today. Ah so glad i was a youngster back then
.
Im afraid anything with the word 'boy' in it is 50 years too late for me.
Even if you did mod a Mexico it would still be slow, my supercharged Cooper 'S' ate Mexico, Twinks & Lotus Cortinas for breakfast back in the day.
These programmes know nothing about the 'modded ' car scene back then
why should they its all youngsters it was a different World.

This series is not about modded cars. It is about classic cars that defined the British social and motoring history. While undoubtedly there exist faster or fancier specimens of cars, we have chosen to cover the Mexico for one episode only, for reasons specific to the program. Other episodes will cover other cars, and none will be about modification.
I would be interested to talk to you more about modding cars in the 70s in general, even if the Mexico was not your choice, as this is an important part of this episode.
Thanks,
Louise.

I have a fiesta turbo, the engine has improved some what, my daughter (5) says I use the car for "zooming" my wife tends to look at it with disdain & I'm 42! oh dear.
The problem is, it is always a work in progress, especially as I am not in full time work. It is how ever just about guaranteed to put a smile on my face when I drive it! will be doing a bit of work on it this winter too when the weather gets bad!

You really should speak with Simon Woolley from Classic Ford mag lol - not sure how many more times to say it!!!!
He can put you in touch with all of the South London massive, who were in the 60's and 70's and still are today leading the way with the tuning of old Fords... you can talk with families that have five generations of "enthusiasts".
