PassionFord Post Whore!!
in my opinion they tend to do more harm than good.
they create a mystery so people or more tempted to look underneath
they can damage paintowrk when moving on and off, and moving in the wind
they trap moisture accelerating rust and damp inside the car
just my thoughts

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I bought a cheap Ł50 cover off eBay, kept it dry all winter but if you put the cover on when the cars slightly damp, then it stayed damp which is not good. I secured mine with one handed clamps round the front and rear bumper to keep it all nice and tight and in place as the elastic still let it flap about

I would never use a cover for exactly the reasons posted above. They will damage the paintwork unless both car and cover is absolutely spotlessly clean every time, they attract damp etc. Leave it without cover away from trees etc then maybe get someone to crack the windows open a bit on a dry day.

I've heard stories of peoples paint blistering due to trapped damp whilst under a cover, also I think the condensation build up cant really be helped.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
in reality the only thing the cover is good for is to keep off bird poo and other airborne nastiness. if you find a local valeter they can come round and clean your car every few weeks if you are away for long periods.
