Default Where has my coolant gone?

Posted the other daybut now have an update.

Ive checked the header tank and there is no coolant in it. No signs of any obvious leaks either.

Also checked dipstck and oil filler cap and they have no mayo shit at all. They are perfect. Im wondering if the water pump may have gone.

Any suggestions or easy tests i could do to rule things in or out??

Its a 3 door Cosworth. Thanks.

Water pump working or not doesnt have make coolant disappear.
If there are no external leaks and your oil looks like oil then it can only be burning it.
Tho remember if the leak is near anything hot (over exhaust etc) then it will burn off and barely leave a trace so dont 100% rule out external leaks until you've had a thorough look over the bay with the engine running and hot

head gasket could be gone on the exhaust side summet like this, you wouldnt be able to tell unless you could visibly see a little stain on the block:

As I and others said in your previous thread, it would seem your HG has blown, and as I said the two may not necessarily mix either, as it depends on whereabouts the blow is.

One crude thing you could do is remove the plugs, one should be 'cleaner' then the others as on that cylinder will be effectively be getting steam cleaned, you will probably have steam from the exhaust as well.

As above, the water pump would not make the coolant disappear!

Ok thanks marty.

Is there a sure test to check if head gasket is gone?

It will be leaking onto the exhaust manifold from the HG, hence burning the coolant away.

first of all you could try a pressure test! that will tell you if there is a leak in the head gasket!

secondly the star ship enterprise might burn water... this tends to involve plasma and or fission / fusion!

cars vaporize water! this will empty a water cooling system quite quickly!

Also leak anywhere near the turbo and same results!

Result.

Banjo that feeds water to turbo. Its weeping out of there but couldnt be seen bad enough until system was pressurised.

Sniffer in header tank was clear as a bell.
