It's a godsend that the wife and I are ok, apart from she is still in a bit of pain, and people say that cars can be replaced, but actually that one can't! I have had that for 11 or 12 years building it to the spec and condition it was in just for some idiot to cause that!

No worries atall mate, if i see someone in need i will always try and help
just prior to the accident i thought you were having some trouble as your car was popping and kangaroo'ing i already had hazards on encase you needed a push (i know all about hot starter motors not working and random stalls from heatsoak haha)

Im glad the bmw driver accepted liability, he was very much trying to point the blame on someone else the fact that he actually went around and came back was very decent of the guy and shows hes not just a complete c**t, in my opinion, the bmw was provoked by the golf gti which undertook about 7 cars around and off the roundabout and then shot right up the back of the bmw and then went into the fast lane just prior to the incident, i personally think the bmw guy wanted to try and chase down the golf got tunnel vision and pulled out thus cutting you up and causing you to skid to try and save the front of your car, from where i was looking it looked like he clipped you.

I understand you will never be able to build the exact same car, but what youve learned in those years building it will only contribute to building a new car, what you missed when you was taken away in the ambulance was my car absolutely stuck on the curb, where i beached it in such a rush to check you guys, took me 5 minutes of rocking and rolling the car until the exhaust clamp snapped off free'ing me to continue onto ford fair.
(note to self by new clamp and fix exhaust blow)

what also made me laugh was when the police arrived, instead of checking you and your misses were okay they was more interested in checking my car all over and confirming the insurance was valid and mods were declared, typical police.

if you need a hand building up your next motor gimmie a shout me and Churtz (Matt) love abit of retro ford

Why were they even doing that?? you were not involved in the accident but were merely a witness

fucking twats. without "good cause" they shouldnt have even been bothering you, especially when there is a crash scene next to them. I guess they consider owning a nice/modified car as reason in itself to be stopped nowadays - pretty pathetic really.

Thanx again guys! I count myself lucky to have had people stop to help. I have not heard anything yet from my insurance but I know where the car is, only problem is I have absolutely no time to get over there to check it over and see if things have gone missing!! I do intend on buying it back and I am currently considering building a new S1 or even an onion turbo.

if i was you, id get the car back asap, regardless of if the insurance want to look at it, my mate lost a mint nissan 200sx to the car pound there was no buy back option, he had a tiny little bump dinged the wing light and bonnet , coulda drove home, police insisted they took it on a low loader and we never saw it again, he didnt want to pursue or press charges just wanted the car back, ended up getting 2grand for whiplash and lost 5grands worth of mint car, like everyone else says the longer its in a yard the less there will be left of it, ofnit was my car i would have called a recovery company to lift it flip it over and put in in my garage locked away from thieving bastards and gyppos

just before you went off in ambulance grabbed anything i could see of value (without starting to unbolt ecu and other goodies) and handed it to your mrs.

Gutted to hear about your car, glad you and your wife are okay. From what I know of the people on here, someone may be able to give you a good deal on a shell, if you want to re-build. Won't replace what you had but will give you something else

Actually, yes it can. If you've built it once, you can build it again. What you can't build is an identical version of your wife. That's the point people are making. A car is a car; metal, plastic and rubber. Flesh and blood is a bit harder to put back together.

Got a few more bits to strip off it yet before the scrappy has the shell.

Picked up somin to start a new project with already, can't wait to get the ZT in it with a few other touches but the bodywork will remain as it is

Each to their own, although it was a bad accident I liked reading this thread and the car looked really awesome. TBH the most horrific thing I have seen here was when I scrolled down and saw a burgundy orion Good luck with the project tho!

This was in reaction to my post I guess so I shall respond. In this instance it's not about RS snobbery. It's about personal taste and opinion. Having a passion for fords doesn't mean that you have to like em all I'm afraid.

If the guy was reshelling it into a 4 door escort mk3 or 4 or the like I would approve because it's a good looking car. However the orion is not.

Orion's are driven by peoples grans or people who can't find a nice escort

Well mixed reactions, but then that's only to be expected, onions aren't to everyone's tastes but I love em! There is an advantage to having the extra bit on the rear, makes it easy to kick the arse end out!
Also it isn't burgundy either, it's factory magenta, exactly the same colour as Saff cossies.
It isn't my first choice of colour admittedly but it's rare to find an onion so clean and already kitted, I don't plan on doing bodywork if I can help it!
The fact that people think that it's an old peoples car makes it all the more fun when the 350bhp zetec turbo kicks in!

Why do you bother posting on a general forum? We don't all have to conform to liking the same things

What?!?!?!?!?!

I'll tell you what I do like and that's the total utter sleeperness of the car. 350 bhp in that will beat most things on the road and will be funny as fuck
I just couldn't see it as a viable option after having a beautiful S1.
