if its double what they quoted you should of had a courtesy call to make sure you still wanted to go ahead really unless you just asked them to build it without the priceing being discussed ?

engine building ime is an estimate but if additional work/items are identified I would expect a call to advise and agree before proceeding.

Had it at PTS with my XR2i when they changed the fuel pump and the bill I got was well over £500 when I was estimated at £200 all in

Could be worse you.

You could send your fucked cvh powered fiesta rst to get a zetec turbo conversion. Fork out £3350 in the process and get your car back as a rolling shell and no windscreen!!!

if you were to pay the original quote the garage couldnt hold on to your car and the police would take your side as it would then be a civil dispute over amounts rather than a non payment matter.

to me it sounds like you didn't even get a quote before or after inspection.
your fault IMO if that is the case.
like me budgetting £2500 for a zetec turbo conversion and spent nearly three times that in the end with loads of upgrades and extras.

more details req'd as tom work done, circumstances, the reason the price changed etc
theres usualy 2 sides to story like this
i'm not trying to say the OP is lying or anything, ust seems a bit vague with details
so just playing devils advocate and keeping an open mind for now
but post up the full story and let people know
if the garage is in the wrong, theres planty of very knowledgable people on here who could help you out legaly etc
