They did move it and then came back, if it was that boring why didn't you get on track? I'm not there this year and I also have seen the number of older cars drop, might be something to do with them getting old and getting stripped for parts and sold in bits. This will be interesting to follow when more people start coming back from the show 2night.

Just got back, have to say it wasn't the best ND I've been to, maybe the weather didn't help, typical decided to drizzle & even quite cool after days of 28-30 dregs

Evo caught fire on track too, nasty that was

I enjoyed it tbh, it's what you make of the show.

Agreed, it's the same old car etc and wasn't busy as usual but it's good to catch up with people and have a good laugh.

Weather didn't bother me.....had a week of people moaning its too hot and not its too cold.

Stop moaning and enjoy the show.

Think its been getting worse each year! Not sure its because of the cars are getting more valuable and folks are "scared" of getting them wet :s also there aint the money knocking about they used to be! Agreed the weather didn't help, but thought it was poorly set out and don't think it gives folks the same buzz as it used to!!

i live 2 mins down the road and in 2005 it was a brilliant show , ever since its been shit and this year was a total waste of Ł40 imo . not many there , no trade stands etc etc.
I did hear that the rsoc chairman is standing down , if hes the one who organized it then good as I think it needs fresh blood

cheers paul

I swore I would never go back to ND, but because of the no noise limit I thought I may as well and 1-pd told me to give it a chance thanks steve you git , but I totally agree with you it was a very poor event considering this is meant to be the premier flagship RSOC event in the yearly calendar, central show was better attended and had more trade stands than this and if it true about the chairman stepping down I say bloody good job as hes a out of date fossil, if rsoc groups dont support national day by not attending and going to other shows instead how can they expect joe public to support them as its plain crazy

I agree with this, I also believe that people are getting fed up of certain venues and the prices...
I personally don't like Santa pod, last time I went it was full of pot holes, don't think it's the easiest of places to get to...

I'm starting to feel the same way about donington...
It's the same layout every year...
If your in a non Rs you'll get a space on the gravel...

I had fun on the track with Madgit ( he drives the wheels off that Clio ) was a bit squeaky bum time in the greasy conditions though

Also got to run with a 500 in the afternoon session, proxy lorry driver on the same track as a Touring car awesome.

Sadly other people have upped their game over the years, resulting in ND no longer being the flagship day it used to be. They pushed the boat out today so it's just down to personal taste really ?????

the thing is in the show scene most people use them as a social gathering and the show itself becomes less important hence so many varied opinions, santa pod is a bottleneck to get in and out of for sure as so many of us saw first hand at classic ford this year but it was a truly brilliant very busy show so I would be happy to queue for such a good days fun, as for potholes I never saw any tbh, its sad to see any negative post about any ford event no matter who the hosts were but you are all entitled to your opinions.

Wasn't able to make it today, so can't comment on this years show. I always think Donnington is the best place for ND out of the places it has been held. Its central in the country ( I know this upset's the southerner's who think every thing should be on their door step ). Rockingham was terrible very little hard standing, Standford hall is too small and Silverstone too big.

donnington is the best place for national day but simply there was nothing going on , I can remember cars everywhere , infield etc and taking ages to walk round. why the fuck do they hold it on the same day as other ford car shows is beyond me , its national day where everyone from around the uk should meet up , and lets face it if you lived 10 mins from a show or you had to travel 100+ miles I know which one I would choose to go to.

cheers paul

Used to spend ages walking round the car park. Think other shows should think about when they hold their shows as not to clash with ND not the other way round. Should imagine there is limited days to hire Donnington even less with noisy days

I don't think it's so much the case of people moving on from Fords, as Ford seem to have some of the highest sales year in, year out. I think the root of the problem is the lack of "RS" badged cars being produced from Ford has dwindled since the RS turbos and cosworths back in the 90's, and now there is a huge influx of the "ST" marques which are more common.

Perhaps if the RS owners club could open the door a little to include/incorporate the ST cars then the shows and following would increase rapidly as these cars are hugely popular. I realise the RS owners club don't want to lose their identity and I'm behind them in that respect but I think they need to do something as with the lack of RS's being produced now compared to 20 years ago is very different and I'm worried that if they keep the door closed then the club could eventually go under?

What do you think??

I only went the once, and never again...
Probably would enjoy classic ford but due to bad experience at Santa pod I'd never go again...
And it looks like I'm not the only one...

If a shows bad one year, your not gonna throw good money back at it the following year...
It's a shame... But I really think the Ford scene needs to try other venues...

I loved it out on track today and it was only very slight drizzle my slicks never came off until the end of the day while I was putting the 888's back on a couple of the models came over withe aboyut 3 photographers and wanted to do alittle mock changing wheels shoot so they use my car.
One of them asked if she could have a passenger ride I could hardly turn her down so out we when on the 888's not a patch on the grip of slicks but I think she enjoyed herself.

agree with you and its not just STs either as all fords are getting stronger followings, this has been brought up many times before but it will never happen, everything in place is geared solely for RS cars only even if it does result in declining member numbers, the purists will win hands down where as mixed ford clubs are growing so draw your own conclusions
