We had one of our new Transit Lutons start to run really lumpy.
It went to a Ford dealer where we have since been told its cracked a piston.
Ford have said the wrong oil was sued on the last service but we have since been told its a common problem and down to a manufacturer fault.
Anyone heard of this and willing to share some info?

Who did the last service? Ford?. Tell em to go fuck. They are just trying to get out of warranty work. Im sure using the wrong spec oil isnt going to crack a piston. Perhaps a manufacturing fault would crack a piston

Ford will kick it out if there bits haven't been used for the servicing. They will also kick it out if its missed a service by more than 1500 miles.

glad ive seen this as i thought it was just my funny driving at work, i drive a different transit every week 2012-2013 models, the 2012 models seem to run really lumpy with just 10k on the clock and will judder now and then when driving along, and whatever engine they have in the 2013 plate transits its got a hell of alot of turbo lag, the amount of times ive gone to pull off with plenty of time and the turbo lag has almost caused a crash because foot down clutch up and absolutely nothing happens the revs just stick for a good 5-8 seconds, im wondering if some of the 2012 plate transits we have at work have the same problem as yours

It was serviced at a Ford approved garage, We have been told today that they are going to replace the engine under warranty, It was mentioned that it could have been down to the injectors
