Default Compression test

How much roughly would a garage charge to do a compression test on a vauxhall zafira ?

My mates is misfiring on cyl 3, and 2 of his so called mates without doing a compression test have told him he needs a new engine, I think its just the coil pack but without the compression test being done we dont know

Surely testing the coil pack would be more appropriate ?

A compression test would only take a few minutes longer than changing the plugs. Whether or not that will give you any useful information in this case is another matter
