IMO the buyer is as much at fault as the trader, does he have eyes?!?!?!

The traders mistake was to describe it with no rust

never mind not knowing what hes looking for he should have taken someone with him whos eyes arent just painted on. even a novice would surely notice that excessive underseal and that since he was paying over and above top dollar that would surely set alarm bells ringing . he only has himself to blame for being caught out and ripped off, theres always some lowlife waiting to part a fool from his money.

Really that has fuck all to do with it

Theres also plenty of other 'better' cars than a cossie to buy with Ł8k but its one persons opinion and its down to what that person likes/wants

The issue here is a dodgy trader and a total mug punter

Hardly a new issue in the world of second hand car sales is it

wow!

I guess the owner purchased on the basis of what he felt in his heart and unfortunately ended up with a lemon.

There was a rather nice white rs that sold recently (stevebm ?) for similar money but looked rather tasty and mint!

Golden rule ; do you homework and ask for help

The answer to this is no the buyer is not as much at fault as the trader, traders have to abide by law and describe things correctly, and are not allowed by law to sell un road worth cars (unless specifically stated) this car has had a dodgy mot put on it and completely misdescribed, the trader has also admitted to putting the wax oil on the car, so there is no denying that he knew it was rusty underneath, so again has lied.

Add to that the fact that he said he would take the car back means he has admitted fault, i cant believe he is now going to take it to court, he doesnt stand a chance.

What is a guy selling Ł70k+ cars doing lashing up an rs turbo ??

Legally yes I agree with you, but you'd still have to be retarded to have been tucked up with that!
