Default 2001 Mondeo Transmission Mystery

Hi guys,

The wife has a 2001 Mondeo Sedan. We put it into the Ford dealership last Thursday for a tune and to get them to replace a vacuum hose on cylinder 1. It has never had any issues with the transmission before this day.

When she picked up the car the dealership was closed and the battery was flat. One of her friends jump started the car with standard jumper leads and all seemed ok, so she drove home. That night I drove it 60 miles and filled the car. Drove another 200 miles and stopped to get a midnight coffee. When I started the car I put it into reverse and then into drive. The car just rev'd and didn't kick into gear. I put it into 1 and it was fine so I worked through into 2 and then into Drive. I then drove another 300 miles into drive with no issues. The next day it was the same issue - I couldn't go straight from P to D. But on 3 occasions I could go straight from Park to Drive.

It's been back to the Ford Dealership today to get the error codes and they are: P0722, P0733 and P0741. I've checked these out at (http://engine-codes.com/p0722_ford.html http://engine-codes.com/p0733_ford.html http://engine-codes.com/p0741_ford.html) and none of them seem "that major".

My thoughts are "did jumping the car damage a computer somewhere related to the AT?" or "is it just coincidental it happened the same day as the service/jump start".

Any help/thoughts/experiences welcome.

Kirk

you do have to be careful jumping modern cars.

when it was in Ford did it have a gearbox oil change? have you checked the level?

it sounds more like an electrical issue, but my question is why cant ford diagnose the issue?
