Is it accesable mate? Drill it out.you can either try a left handed drill bit and see if that winds it out or just drill it with a normal drill bit.
You can get proper easy outs where you knock a metal bar about 6imches long into the hole then turn the bar to unscrew it if that makes sense.i dont really like these tho as they push against the threads making it tighter.worth a try on this tho as it shouldnt be over tight anyway.

yes there are some solutions! if the threaded bit is still protruding:

sykes pic stud extractor
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321094672280

or you might try:

irwin bolt extractor
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/151061253304

if the Fu**ing thing snapped and is not protruding and it is tapered things get rather more interesting! I might try depending on access using a dremmel to cut a slot in the temprature sender, spraying the bit you can see with a freeing oil

wurth ROST OFF PLUS
wurth crafty rost off

(both work quite well!)

then trying to exert force on it with a flat head screwdriver to un screw it out!

god luck this will not be easy

otherwise you can get a set of tapered square bars. you then hammer the appropriate one into a slightly too small round hole you drill into the stud. you can then use a spanner to try to un screw! - do this with a penatrating oil!

I remember my engineer mentioning spark erosion to remove broken threads ect .
Luckily I didnt need that on my head but its worth a look.
Not sure what the process is exactly and whether its any use for your prob.

Have a quick google

Spark erosion would mean he would need to take the cylinder head off if that's where the sensor has snapped.
Spark erosion involves using copper or graphite made to a desired shape or size and an electrical current is passed through the copper / graphite and it erodes the broken metal away. The head would need to be placed in the tank of the spark erosion machine and submerged in dialectic fluid.
This process is normally used on hardened metals which can be too tough to cut.
As its a brass sensor he will be best to drill it out and use an easy out

like you said, spark erosion is good on hard metal such as exhaust studs which have broken flush. brash is soft so i cant imagine it be too difficult to exract using conventional/diy methods. dont worry, it will probably come out straight away using an easy out kit

Buy a set of Easy-out. Use the all the time at work, we have stainless bolts and alloy UHP blocks. After they have been in there a while they always snap.
