Any solidworks experts on here??
I have access to it at work and want to learn how to use modern CAD packages.
The last time i touched CAD software you had to program the parameters in UNIX K-shell.
I gather its moved on a touch?![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
How quick is it to pick up the basics??

I cant remember the name of the software i had at uni but it was all programmed in C via the k shell on unix computers. Was fucking painful having to learn all the code then defining all your dimensions and parameters with more code. Then computing it in the hope it looks like you thought it would ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Managed to make a cylinder so far!!
was dead simple.

I'm not a Solidworks users (CATIA yes), but I recon its the same when having to learn. I would buy or borrow a book with a title like "Introduction to Solidworks with tutorials and examples" and trust me if you do these correctly and carefully you will learn a lot!

At uni we covered Autodesk Inventor, 3ds Max and CATIA, the last of which was the only one I struggled to get to grips with.
I've been producing drawings for an M&E Engineering comapany since I finished my degree 4 years ago, AutoCAD is the industry standard which we never covered on any of our course modules, they have since introduced 3 modules for AutoCAD after I made them aware.

well my boss has extended my project. He thinks theres no point designing a carbon monococque based around existing off the shelf subframes. He thinks i might as well design the whole suspension from scratch (preferably double wishbone) and in effect design the whole chassis upto a rolling chassis including drivetrain.
