Default classic fords - prices on the up ???

just been browsing ebay ect , and it seems anything thats a ford and classic status is commanding silly money atm

now , im talking everything from mk 1-2 escorts ( what i was on the look out for lol ) to granadas , fezzys ect ect ,

is this folks moving away from the cosworth erea and going more into the classic scene ??

or is it just old men with fat wallets looking for that nostalgia bug

Ye they are on the way up, i know its a case of advertising is onre thing and what they are selling for is another but generally even a 4 door mk3 escort goes for Ł3k these days whereas 2 doors tend to start at 5k.

From having worked at Classic Ford magazine for 3 years I'd say Escort prices have stabilised. I've seen the odd 'cheap' Escort come up (I say cheap, as in decent money for a solid, working car that I would have expected to do more) and prices don't seem to be escalating as they once were.

Saying that, virtually every other kind of classic Ford has increased in value. There are still bargains to be had though if you look around - forums are much better than eBay, which always seems to be full of over-priced cars. Again in my opinion of course.

thanks si , nice to have input from someone whos got knowldge of the scene , any ideas where to look ?

tbh the thought of a cossie appeals to me less than a mk 1-2 or even a frs

maybe im getting old , but i just like the idea of a nice clean old school car me the missus and little un can have a run out in if the weathers nice and not have to worry about it shitting itself - ect

My sister bought her 36,000mile 1977 Mk1 Granada 2.0GL Auto for around Ł1200 back in 2002, and was offered Ł3k for it as soon as she got it back from the mainland. It has since, sat in a dry shed with a cover over it and god knows how much it would be worth nowadays!!!!???

Ł10k+???

I personally reckon Fiesta RS Turbo's are gonna shoot up in value in the next few years...

I know its later than the era you mean, But still a classic ford in my eyes

For a Mk1 Fiesta there are usually a good few bargains to be had on the fiesta-mk1.co.uk forum if you look around.

Turbosport can be good for decent quality cars and there are cheap cars and parts on there from time to time.

Cortinas try buysellcortina.com

Considering restored Sports aren't going for that I'd doubt it! Still, a nice car to have though.
