James,

But the 500 maybe original too and in better condition, low milage DOESN'T always mean mint

I can tell you're a buyer of cars on milage rather than condition

100% agree

I have seen more rs500"s than anyone and some of these so called low miles low owner cars arnt all you would expect as they have just sat around for years and years not touched , and when there brought out again they drop to bits as everything has corroded away

The best cars are usually 40/ 60 k , these are low miles for there age but have done a few thousand every year and are kept moving and clean

I tell everyone that contacts me that you buy on

condition condition condition , not miles and owners

99% of these low owner cars have had twice the owners anyway , its just the owners have never put it in there name simply to keep the owners low

see my answer above paul lol

of course i would buy on condition ,all im saying is the super low milers in mint condition are the ones that will command the best dollar

and 40 to 60 k on the clock aint a high miler imo.

i can garruntee that matts car with 91k is in better condition than the one ive bought with 39k

But its had thousands spent on it so it will be.

I can spend thousands on mine and it would be in the same condition ,but its not something i want to do.

These are pics from the for sale thread .. From when I bought it ..

So I picked it up took it home and set about it ..

First day at home ...after a good wash and fettle

That's what a 3dr should be like for 14.5k IMO .. All original panels and glass mine.. The above pics are only from picking it up and cleaning it and having a steering rack fitted .

Sorry to waffle

It has now but look at the above pics of when it was original with 89k when I bought it .. You can't get straighter than that for 14.5k with the history and condition IMO

paul ,i would never say your cars were over inlfated in price and a lot of the times you sell some cars at very good prices .

market conditions and exclusivity has put the rs500 out of 95% of enthusiast reach and if the 3dr goes the same way well the rs scene will suffer greatly

can you say if you think that the 3dr has reached the 30k mark?

All i will say mate is for 30k i would want something very very special ,

Yes rs500"s are now well above average working mans prices , but limited numbers and the best race hitory of any car ever built has caused the rise in values

3drs will now rise due to the 500 being to expensive , and saldy they will laso soon be worth to much and as you say this will effect the scene as cars will vanish into collections

100% agree,it would have to be a very special car to warrant 30k.

and now the 500 has gone out of reach for me anyway,i will have to accept that i missed the boat on them and just suck it up lol

and now that the 3drs have started going up ,saffs are following and soon the scene will disapear for the working man, which lets face it is why ford created the rs in the first place

I think theyve got far to expensive for what they are and people who own them are just unrealistic with what there worth in general, i looked at one today for 12.5k and it just wasnt worth anywhere near that, would of taken so much time and money to make it right

So if you owned one then and someone offered you 20-25k you would say sorry mate but i don't think it's worth that, how about i sell it to you for 12 k instead

Typical post of someone that's looking for one

Tbh I agree with that...people that want them.. Want them for next to nothing ... When I started looking 3years ago I was looking and nothing took my fancy .. In order to budge someone off a good one I had to have 16k in my back pocket... Twice I asked about d22 blc and twice I was knocked back ... Then months after while still looking he contacted me and said 14.5k I went to look and the rest is history ... Just from pictures the car was nice but to see it in the flesh it's mega straight and nice in all the right places ...

3 things I look at when buying a car-

Condition.
Mileage.
Owners.

Mats car is very nice but would I pay 20k for it no thats due to the mileage.

Was it a black 3dr? 15k on eBay 12.5k on pistonheads which I thought was odd!

I can tell you're a buyer of cars on milage rather than condition
but that's the general way low miles low owners in a classic will always create more interest BUT

Do you buy the above and the car wont carrying on being not used which isn't very good

Or buy a car with many owners been in use quite often and in great original condition

If I was after a 3dr I would want a none and never moded original car well serviced irrespective of owners/ milage and if it had any resto work then it would of had to of been to the highest standard and most important if ever possible original paint as much as poss , Again theres so many bad but look good paint jobs id rather see its natural beauty lol

Im not saying that at all but im realistic with the price when i sell a car, if your not its just a waste of yours and buyers time. If it takes 15k ish to buy a good one then fair enough but people with below average cars ask big money for them when they see others up for big money.
