Anyone owned an alfa romeo gt coupe?
I am looking at one, 2007, under 20k miles, £8k.
Black with full spec, 2.0 petrol.
Dont want a v6 and dont want a diesel.
Any issues? What are they like to live with and drive?
thanks

There lovely to drive.I used to work on them when they were new.Is it a twin spark engine or the newer 2ltr.Check rear suspension arms there should be 2 on each side. The bushes used to wear. Also check the bush in the bottom of the hub. There sud be a training arm which fastens to the chassis and to the hub.
If uts the newer engune there was a lot of trouble with the lambda sensor connectors playing up and would bring the engine light on the dash.

could still be a twin spark engine.
good cars, depreciate fairly quickly though, so don't expect it to hold value at all.
if it is a twin spark engine then they need to be put through their paces to reveal any real power.
i do love an Alfa, i've owned a few of the brand, even have a GTV i'm toying turning into a track car.

i must admit the diesel is the pick of the bunch, and with a map they fly!
usual alfa stuff, vague gearchange, wiring issues on the body (fog/reverse lights bulb holders currode and the harness/holder plug at the same time
you have to replace the rear sub loom, (i just repair the plugs, saves taking bumper off etc)
and the bulb holders only come with the lights!!
i think it was about £400 last time i did one to get foglight working for its first MOT!
driveshafts can wear due to the torque they produce, like focus/mondeo etc on the inner pot joint giving a vibration under load.
heavy on front brakes too, i feel disks are undersized.
other than that, buy a colour that is a good re-sale, red is always good and black down in london here.
the white looks poor over time.
hope this helps
