Well

Very lucky it didnt come flying off and cause more damage!

Looks like it has semi-slicks so must be a track car? Cornering hard caused that???

Must be some grip on them tyres to cause that.

IIRC SiB's Evo had similar issues at the ring a few years back? he might have caught it early and noticed the cracks appearing.

I saw a Pro Race 2 do it on a Pulsar at Mallory, ripped the whole outer off. The poor fella was left with a 6" rim still fitted.

Seen a couple of pics of Subarus the same. Although someone suggested that powdercoating the wheels was an issue, as the heat weakens the alloy. And the wheels in question had been refurbed and powdercoated...

Much as those red ones look ?

Certainly a thought with the powder coating process, either that or just really good fakes?

WTF That is enough to make me think that steelies are sexy!

That would have to be braking and / or cornering hard.

you would need a lot of force applied in an off centered manner.

Oh dear!! Have any of them been caused by incorect clearence issues and therefore rubbing on the brake caliper?

people after powdercoat/paint also dont clean the face that the nuts butt upto, this paint/powdercoat cracks and breaks up causing wheels to come loose with heat cycles, and on track/tarmac stages causes in extreme cases this breaking up in weak points!
all caused by vibration shocks on the cars we ran before dotting the T`s so to speak

these were gpA/N/WRC subaru`s, hire cars and ex works Allistair Mcrae sunny
all different brands of wheels too

terrifying on a tarmac stage at high speed lol

Yes, this happened on a friends 206, at first his wife told me the wheel broke, and I was like...ok??? Then I saw the photos and all 5 spokes had snapped, leaking just the centre on the hub and the tyre on the rim
Edge....scary stuff
