Default subs, fit and forget types

right then, got the urge to put some bass into my car after looking at that mondeo at ace cafe over the weekend

i've currently got one of those flat amps with built in subs stuck in the corner of the boot as i needed to keep it fairly boot friendly, but now i don't need to i just want something that will potentially fill the boot and potentially shake the windows out

can i buy something off the shelf or is it better to have a custom instal?

i want to be able to remove it though if i need to so it can't be too custom so that it won't come out of the boot opening

cheers

It's easy enough done just build it in sections so that it still holds volume but can be put in like a jigsaw puzzle, go to maplins an pick up some quick release wiring connectors aswell which will aid you when pulling it in and out

there used to be a company advertising in max power and revs etc that i think were called stealth boxes. they use the shape of the cars quarter panels and leave more room in the boot. like so...

Cant you just mount the sub amp somewhere out the way and simply have a twin box on banana plugs?

the mondeo estate mate

it's got LOADS of space in the back but fitting stuff to it and not being able to get it out the way when i need to put a suitcase or a big pot or the like in the boot is a no-no

bolt amp into the floor/back of seats and then fit a sub box in on quick release plugs.
easy to remove and make it so it can be held easily enough with just a strap would be simple.

Thats easy then bud, as mr wishy says mount the amp somewhere solid but out of the way like behind a rear panel.
You can have as large or small a box as you like that can be lifted in or out with a simple two wire push fit plug.
With the amp hidden and the box removed there would be no sign of anything fitted and more importantly no loss of space.

Buy an active box or tube as you wont need a separate location for the amp then.

Hard wire said box or tube via a quick connector as previously discussed.

I had an earthquake twin 12" box and mounted the amp to it so it was removed as a kit.

Them grey fli bass boxes are ok.My mrs has one in her boot. The standard amp stopped working and the original sub split.Ive fitted a amp on the back of the box and fitted a new fli sub.Ive put spade connectors on the live/earth and remote wires so i can easily disconnect them.

One has a hole in the box the other is sealed. Sealed is active, suits punchy, dance type music. Passive has the hole in the box and suits lower, rolling hip hop style bass

Lol , almost
Active means an all in one type package like the vibe, fli in phase offerings where the amp is built in to the box.
They do serve a purpose as they are easy to install and good for people with limited space.

My old A4 set up. Everything mounted to the box. Earth and power cable on a plug, remote on a plu and the RCA's and the whole lot could be extracted to take whatever I needed to.
