Video Camera
I'm looking for one. Really not sure what to go for, not sure on price either, don't want to go over board, but will probably stick to Sony as that's what we used to have (ancient and broken now but was brill for years)
Any links, good places to buy? or is it just best to go round the high street?

I heard that the DVD ones arent all that just yet. And that you should go for Mini DV camera for the time being.
Problem is theres about 60 million different cameras availiable from 12,000 different companies.

dcr dvd201 i think
worth the extra 40 bar or so for the
extras, best all round package
came from amazon, but was a few quid extra
some of the cheaper places were pants when i phoned
them & tried to get all techy on them
(well, just asked a few questions)
still reading the manual at the mo'
not cos its big but i'm a "i know what the manual says"

i was going for mini dv (digital tape) but all the foroms i read & the ppl i know
with 'em have all had tape chewing disasters with some really xpensive equipment
so i got mini dvd - 8cm dvd's that hold about 30-32 mins per side, you can get dvd-r that is a burn once jobby or dvd-rw that you can record & wipe/re-record approx 1000 times apparently, it also takes single shots that play like a slide show on yo dvd player - personal choice of course but the dvd ones have been around a while now, dont get a DVD ram jobby though, - good idea but no fooking player seems to accept them !

OK, realistically we are on a budget which we do plan to stick to. Have been looking at this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...368835-6289402
Looks just what we are after, something small and with an easy to use touch screen
think the mini dv format will be cool. Now im a bit more clued up on mini dv and all the formats, going to pop into our local hughes at lunch to get a feel of the cam and more help on it.
Quite a good price tbh, and will do all we need (purely just for holidays and me using it for car shows etc) I can link it direct to the pc and pull the video off it and slap them on to dvd when I get a dvd burner too
Cheers
