Cant understand the risk people take regarding insurance,

you do a full hpi cost at what £30 and they give you 7 days comprehensive free insurance to cover this situation. getting home etc.

5 years of high premiums now unfortunately. I'm hopefully leaving the country to live abroad before my insurance renews so its not too bad for me. Hope you have a better outcome.
But to be fair his situation was slightly different in that the car never got taken as his mate had a traders policy (why his mate wasn't driving ill never know),if the op had said nothing regarding part owning the car or even denied that in court (as according to him the cop who stopped him never made him sign anything therefore totally in admissible in court) I think personally he would have been fine.

Like I said earlier the exact same thing bar the part ownership bit happened to a boy sitting next to me in court, he was driving a car home for his dad,car on his dads trade policy and him driving off his own fully comp insurance, got pulled, told he was going to court etc,got to court, case dropped, then re opened as the dvla printed the wrong reg on his summons therefore the "car" showed up as not insured on mid.

He was in court about 3 minutes!!!!

But I agree it seems that in this day and age it's down to the luck of the bloody draw.

Ahh the joys of lax insurance companies.
not just the 90's mate,,, i was doing that on my old cossie,, then when the law changed i just added it to a mates traders policy

i would do it again but insurance is soo cheep these days with mirrored no claims through greenlight its not worth the hassle of it and now if its nicked i can claim my money back too

to be fair its really 2 years of high insurance which if you go by a specialist insurer it aint that bad these days

bit like owing a performance car,,, you use greenlight rather than aviva for a decent price

i got done for no insurance as i was a prick when i was younger ( more than i am now)

downside though was when i had the wrong reg on my impreza policy my car was confiscated and they never gave me a producer and part of the reason was i had been done for it before and the impreza was showing up and not insured ( not my error btw)

i did have to pay to get the car back but letter from insurance allowed me to get it back that way
