Default Can anyone recommend any good 'Project' shops?

I'm looking for a well thought of, quality company who can do some stuff to my car.
Like, install a new ECU, sort the wiring. Remove current engine and fit the new one I've done. There will be some custom brackets and stuff to make up along the way. But a lot of it's tidying up whats already there or replacing it!

Just testing my options as I'm mega short on time and space for doing it myself at the minute.

Ideally would be located north of Birmingham. In South Yorkshire would be even better

So, has anyone got any trustworthy shops to recomend?

being reasonably priced is also important as I'm on a budget!

cheers

Will is definitely a great option. Might just be a bit expensive for the amount I need doing. I had another shop that was going to do it but the wait might be too long till they can get it in!

But he is definately near the top of the list. Just want to speak to one or two others and choose then

Not sure how much actual work he does...but Martin at MEFMotorsport might be an option
He's a DTA dealer and supplies ecu's and makes wiring looms. I think he does do actual work too. Not 100% sure where he's located though

You could maybe try Craig at Dynotorque in Birmingham. I think he mostly does V8's, but does motorbikes too so may well do all jobs.
But would be more than capable of doing anything you need and to a very high standard

Cheers mate. Will give him a call on Monday.
Looking at the cost of parts and stuff that I still need, I may end up having to do a fair amount of it myself. It will be a good learning experience if nothing else!

Major PITA though as Im going to miss most of 'summer' with it being off road

Certainly hard to argue against a V8 lol. But you'll be in safe hands with Craig

I'm also going to call Mark at MA developments

I don't know anything about streetracer and I think Norris are mainly Japanese cars?

Engine changes and Ecu wiring etc is always gonna cost...
Some places may not want to take a job on half done tbh as it can be a can of worms and prices will always increase.
A good firm with good rep may want to do the full build or not at all...
It's their name on the line...

Slammedorion - Yes mate, but I already have the car fully running, MOTd and taxed. It is running 230 hp on the 1.8 zt setup with a pectel T2 (with a shit map).

It basically needs the new engine fitting, new clutch, engine bay wiring tidying up (not ECU loom as that was factory), new EM and turbo fitting, new downpipe making , fuel lines changing to braided, and a few other things I have fogotten lol (remap of course). I have the new engine ready to go in, it will drop in plug and play style apart from the above items...

Karlos G- yes mate I think the budget was blown some months ago truth be told !! Just want to get it running the new engine and turbo though..

nevsrevs - cheers mate

Carlbacciochi - thanks

ps. who's Craig?!!

Try http://www.relentlessperformance.co.uk/ one of the owners is a member on here and is doing some work on an Escort MK4 RS Turbo/RS1600i, they do all different types of work, Jaguar e-type restoration, modification to Time Attack cars, repair crash damaged sports two seat car, turbo engine car conversions, cage fitting, resprays etc, etc.

I can highly recommend Craig @ Dyno Torque too he's done loads of work on my 3 Door.

He's also just had a feature done on his 1017bhp twin turbo V8 RX7 by Speed Hunters if you want to see the quality of his work.

His fabrication is OK - certainly not on par with Nortec.

He cannot map a car and struggles with some basic mechanics.

I've seen a few cars mapped by him that have had them checked by a more reputable tuner and their comments were less than kind.

In short, welding you may get an OK job, anything above that you buy your ticket to take your chance.

You've got a real hang up about GR for some reason. Having been to gr many times I cannot fault his work. His fab work is quality and as for mapping cars, he is asked by other tuners to help out when they struggle, many top name tuners too. Unlike yourself I'm not going to sully their name. He works very closely with Nortec and has helped them out in the past. He has built and runs time attack cars that do well in particular Jonny Fletcher.
I have and still do trust him with my car.
