Default Focus DPF

Guys

Does a 2008 TDCi Focus have a fluid DPF ? I seem to recall hearing that some cars have a reservoir that needs topping up at set periods, and some that don't.

Does the above have a reserviour underneath anywhere that needs checking or is it a chemical reaction within the exhaust and nothing to check ?

Thanks in advance chaps !

Just spoke to ford about this they said if it has a reservoir it will be under the rear arch the same side as the fuel flap the dpf will have small pipe around it if it has a reservoir, they need topping up at 37,500 miles and ford charge about Ł150 to do this, some of the newer cars the dpf is coated for life but they seem to think thats a 2008 would be the old system.

Hope this helps.

The tank is piggy banked on to the back of the fuel tank. There is a level window on the left hand side of it.
The fluid is nasty stuff, do not get it on your skin if your topping it up yourself.

Yep. I have this system on my cmax. You can buy the fluid from ebay and do it yourself for a lot less than the ford price. It is nasty crap though. I did mine earlier this year.

yeah elois fluid stains like a bastard lol.u get all the bits u need to refill the system.keep the bottle as high as u can and let it gravity feed in.once it starts coming out into the overflow bottle then its fully refilled.injects fluid each time u fill up as one part of the sensor is located on the fuel flap

Something i've often wondered is "could" you top it up with just normal diesel?
