I always take people out on test drives, my rule is I drive the car out, we swap, they drive it back.

When it gets to the point of swapping, I turn the engine off, take the keys out, walk round to the other side, get in and hand them the keys, when we return I take the keys off them when we park up.

Seen this sort of thing happen to many times.

To think years ago i just used to let people go for a quick spin, it's only since selling more desirable car's i go as a passenger or driver but like you say you only have to be off guard for a second or two and they're away
