2001 Punto 1.2 Handbrake warning light
The girlfriend's car has its handbrake warning light come on and off intermittently whilst driving. Can't find any sort of pattern to the light coming on and off although I think it does seem to make a difference whether you are going over bumpy ground or not and when turning corners.
The car has been in for repair and I reckon they are taking the piss but she doesn't want me to speak to her mechanic because it'll cause trouble since the whole family take their cars to him and have done for years but I really do think there has been some shoddy work gone on.
Basically, the car failed MOT on track rod ends, no problem new ones ordered and fitted. She came to pick me up from the gym, rattling like fuck. I was like what the hell is happening here. Her dad called the fella said apparently "they didn't fit a part to it that they should have done because they didn't get it and will fit it another time FOC when she brings it back". So you'd give a customer a car back with it sounding like a death trap...(it really did it sounded like the NSF suspension was going to fall apart). Anyway it goes back, part fitted, when she next drove me in the car, knocking away again. I got quite irritated at this stage but she still wouldn't let me speak to them. Car went back again for a third time because the bonnet cable snapped and it was diagnosed with a perished bush that was replaced and car finally stopped knocking.
Now the handbrake light keeps coming on. All this was done on the NSF and last night after she took me home I had a quick look at the car and poked my fingers inside the wheel to see how hot the brakes were. THE OSF was warmish but not too hot to touch. The NSF which had the work done was absolutely boiling and I burnt my finger on touching the brake disc. Now I'm not sure whether that indicates anything or whether its maybe an ABS switch so anyone have any ideas what may be causing it?
When I see her dad on Saturday I'm going to get the guys number and ring him to tell him if he thinks it is acceptable taking 3 goes to fix a track rod end and also fuck the brakes up in the process.

Mine used to do the same. 02 reg 1.2
Used to pull handbrake up a tiny tiny bit and put it down and it went back off eventually lol. Just assumed it was a sensor fucked or something. Never fixed it properly.
Turned the passenger airbag off once, then back on and airbag light lit up on dash from then on. Never bothered fixing that either

I might get the whole thing taken off one weekend and have a look at it and if there is nothing wrong with it and seems fine then I will probably change the switch and check what other sensors are doing with a multi.
Thanks all.
Thanks all.
