Right I am wanting to spend about 25-30k ish on something fun but theres a catch, I want a towing vehicle to take my cossie to the shows this year. I am thinking about buying a transit for towing the car to the shows and getting something special.
My idea was either get a transit ( that i could use every day) and a Porsche 911 Turbo (996) or get a nice Audi RS4 and stick a tow bar on the back with maybe a wee older escos etc for fun??? What would you do? I did think about the usual C63, M3 etc. But do prefer 4 wheel drive.

r34?
Had to get a lift from go karting the other week from my mate who has a rs6 twin turbo, just under 600bhp. Was really impressed with it, doesnt half shift for a large luxury car, but then he started reeling off some basic maintenance figures, I couldnt believe it!! think things like the brakes are similar to lambo galliardo ones etc mega expensive for a disc and pads change

I read with the RS4s that if the osd shocker is nackered you have to change the osr shockee too.
Also new tyrew every 12,000 miles.Im sure the front disca and pads cause roundabout 900 quid. Also i rwad the inlet manifolds can clog up.

do what my friend did, bought an s8 v10, ceramic brakes etc. then had a removable tow bar fitted.
i'm sure the towing limits would be quite big on that, it's a bloody heavy car, could pull the world and only takes 20 seconds to fit the tow bar.
granted a bit understated till you start the engine.

Maybe a wild card but for me it'd be a Jaguar XF-S 3.0TD One of the best new cars I've driven in a long time (And I used to drive ALOT of cars) Quick enough, comfortable, lots of toys great trim and unlike the equivilent BMW or Merc, great cars in their own right, you feel a bit special driving it...

Couple in budget.

Or a non-s, with delivery miles

Fit a towbar... they do an estate now too. I'd have the diesel, plenty for a daily, sensible tax etc...

I'd steer clear of an rs4. The old man had one. In 6 months the bills came to nearly 10k. And it still needed front shocks and discs.
Was pretty underwhelming to drive aswell.
996 turbo is a better car. My old man chopped the rs4 in for a 997 c2s. Goes really well.

Get yourself a nice VW transporter Sportline, looks great with plenty of pulling power. plenty of seating arrangements for the family requirements aswell. can tow the car with plenty of room for passengers and gear and can even sleep in it if required. summet like this:

right, already got an x5 for the wife, the vw is very pricey for basically a van isnt it! and i forgot to mention i wont be buying the sporty car with cash it will be on finance so will need to use a dealer. Heard horror stories with the aston to fix them.
They are shit hot

I'd get a long wheel base and kit it out camper style and a porka
Slap a towing bar on the wifes X5, get a complete shitter to tootle around in everyday and up the budget slightly

cheap tow car, 5-8 year old mondeo or whatever, 3-4k. then 20k buys you a pretty baffling choice when it comes to fun cars, depends on personal taste etc. me personally something along the lines of a well spec'd caterham/westfield or build a bit of a sleeper project car, something simple, mega light, decent power. based on a lean cupra or mk1 focus or something. the worlds your oyster to a point. theres plenty of cheap 1/2 finished projects about.
If it was possible to stretch the budget a little more Id go for one of these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AWESOME-20...item4ac278b268 I took my mates out for a couple of hours round the doors, motorway and on twisty roads and I now have one on my "must have" toys wish list.
We have transporters at work (mines a 2011) 140, stick a trailer on the back and get on some wet grass and you will be stuck. The van on its own (2550kg) gets stuck too easily. All the lads that had the older version have all said they drove better and felt more refined than the newer ones.
The newer ones are great on fuel tho. They do do a 4motion one but no idea what they are like.

Honestly how funny would that look with a trailer and a mint s1 on the back?
The Bentley the "slave" to the ford!!!
Meets all the other requirements though I think? Room for the kids, class, plenty of poke when required and a set of rims or even a few facelift parts of your feeling flush and you do have a very special car there.
I believe they can be made to corner well too?
