Default Camshafts

Hi all,

Is there anyway to identify standard camshafts on a 2wd Yb other than taking them out and measuring them?
Not sure if mine have been changed or not! (3door)

Thanks for any-all info.

My Best, T.

Aftermarket one's will usually have their ID stamped on the end of the cam (opposite end to the cam pulley) such as BD16.

Thanks rich, will have a look tomorrow. In your opinion what if any difference does a cam change above standard have on lower end torque/power.

Cheers, T.

It all depends on the spec of the rest of your engine, you need cams to suit.

All standard, apart from valve springs, well I suppose not really that standard nornal stuff 0044 fuel pump-071 plugs-atb diff-7.8 cr - looms up-rated-drive-shafts-train uprateed. the usual 500 intercooler/rad/turbo cooler- along with group a coil.

t34 turbo (but not as most know it im told )

Inducer comp- Major-3 inch
Minor-2.122

Turbine
major -2.555
minor- 2.126

Getting 7psi @3000 rpm everyone else seem to achieve more? but I wonder if this is down to the fact that a T34 exducer is 69mm where mine is 76mm?
Looking at all posibilities, as I don't think a journal bearing turbo is that far behind a ball bearing item of the same stock.

The forum goes dead when knowlegde is limited !

I wouldn't change the exhaust cam i'm running 550bhp and i'm still on a standard exhaust cam.
Has the head had any port work?
It may benefit from a sliightly larger inlet cam.
