A good many years ago a good friend was looking for a Diamond Black Metallic Cav GSi 2wd but he wanted the light (sandy coloured) interior, they were real rare, even back then. He turned up one day in this gorgeous Black one with the right trim, wood trim on the doors the lot, bog standard with 20k on the clock. It used to make a real nice raspy noise and for a long time, i wanted one. He p/x'd it a Vauxhall a few years later for a Satin Red Turbo Cav, which got stolen after a week. Gutted wasnt the word!
They're another one of those cars "you just dont see anymore!"

its all about the 5 pot
I had a mk3 Sri & a K plate GSi2000 in star silver. It was mint but the waterpump took the timing belt out, and back then they were desirable, but cheap. I sold it for spares.
My dad used to pick me up from school in his white SRi130, think it was E44 LNH. He sold it and bought a mk3 SRi in spectral blue. Awesome cars.

great cars i honestly believe the last good car made by vauxhall was the cavalier just like the last good car made by peugeot was the 205 and on and on it goes for some manufacturers there best cars were made in the 80's and 90's before the accountants and emmisions geezers got involved

lad at garage near me has a cav sri he has had it years and spent well over 15k on it in the past 13 years its allways been a car ive liked, saw it in him last week and said cant believe you still have the old beast he replied ill keep this till it fills the road with smoke and rattles it self to death then booted itt off down the road, judging by the noise and smoke it made that will be anytime soon lol. still it looked like it were proper moving when he went tho

Thought that was still on the F28 6 speed box which iirc would mean only FWD if you pulled the fuse?? Unless I'm missing something. Where's Chip when you need a Vauxhall question answering. lol

you pull the fuse it's fwd only
can't remember exactly how the transmission works but we had a guy who's car we used to service back in 1990 who had a 4wd gsi and we kept a spare set of rims and tyres in the garage for the time when he's have had a puncture or soemthing and needed to have all 4 tyres the same size or risk blowing the transmisisno up
never could understand why they put such a soft system into such a performance car of the day

Always faniced a GSi or Sri for a weekend hog, a friends dad had one when it was new and remember winding it upto 125mph and thinking it was the greatest car ever! Them, like GTE's and novas have well and truly lost the chav appeal they once had!

That turbo is loverly !!
Our 130 was a white hatch with grey sills & white alloys. Never understood why people could spec them without the alloys etc. ours had rear elec windows and pas, yet some had wheel trims & front keep fit windows :$

Always wanted a Cav Turbo but never found one.
Was looking for my first Ford RS Turbo a few years back and they were thin on the ground near my way, so spied a Calibra Turbo for a decent price, knocked a couple hundred off it and paid 1900 for it, nice car just needed some brakes looking at and usual Vaux noises.
Within about 4wks a nice S2 came up for sale and needed the cash badly, took a hit and sold the Calibra for 1500 so i could get the Ford!!! Ouch!

Had a silver g plater, got some pics somewhere, arches a bit rough but motor had been fettled and was seriously rapid, had the turbo interior as well which was mega comfy.
Never failed to start once and was also really good on petrol.
Got a mk3 gsi Astra after that but not half the car the cav was although much better looking,in fact my fave looking hot hatch of that time out of rs2k,mk3 golf and pug 309.
