Time attack open wheel class?

Time attack open wheel class?
Did anything come of the talk years ago of time Attack having an open wheel class? I remember hearing they may so one after Duncan Cowper ran his Dax MC Rush at Rockingham with fantastic times. It would be good to see carerhams and single seaters strut their stuff too
