Default are cosworth hubs the same as standard?

hi, im after a brake upgrade for my sierra which is currently receiving a bmw heart, was looking to upgrading to cosworth brakes, just the standard ones. are the hubs the same on a cosworth as they are on a standard car or do i need to either make brackets or get cosworth hubs?

Depending on what model your sierra is to whether you need to upgrade cossie had best brakes but 2.8/2.9 xr4x4's had bigger brakes and rear disks just not as good as cossies but better than standard perfectly ok for you bmw lump

sorry wes misunderstood your question, its just a standard td shell, hence the diesel engine, seemed a waste to make it petrol when there is so few original diesels left on the road.

the xr discs have a different offset

you are a bit far to post the hubs i've got but the cossie hubs are different where they fit as well as how they fit

mk3 mondeo calipers (any model of car)
mk1 focus st170 discs
drill the holes out to 12mm
bolt them on
job jobbed

Yes Dojj, but what about servo & MC??

Not all servo's and MC's are up to the job of powering bigger calipers are they?

I have very large Brembo calipers and 330mm discs using the standard 4i MC

It's just I'd read several reports of brake upgrades on standard Sierra's to Cosworth calipers and the owner gave feedback of the upgrade being worse than the originals.

And I always read at the end of the thread someone more knowledgeable than me saying 'you havent upgraded your servo M/C set up' - and yes always seems to be smaller rear drum types.

Steve, did the 4i have a larger drum than say a 1.6 Sierra?

I'm hopeful that when I upgrade mine that it all works out okay.

the larger master cylinder and servo combo from the tin cam sierras with all disc brakes works fine with any combination of caliper i've seen so far

the xr4i had larger drums on the rear so, in theory, it all adds up to it working AND they had the larger 260mm discs on the front so, again, the theory works out

on the flip side, my mondeo came with 300mm's on the front as standard and the upgrades to 6 pot ap's has made the pedal travel LESS and the brakes stop a LOT better

I have mondeo 300mm on my xr4i with rear discs and I fitted a new master cylinder and servo with braided hoses and I still havnt got a brilliant pedal. Am toying with the idea of fitting a Sierra abs powered master cylinder but need some more info on how todo this or I'd there an alternative up rated master cylinder and servo that I can fit?

Rear disc models with no abs had the bigger servo/mc fitted.

no, the servo swap is very simply nut and bolt job

the abs is abit mroe complicated...but doable if you hav the complete set up but that includes front hubs and rear beams for the abs rings plus all the wiring and the ecu and the master cylinder and the valve block

You can wire it all up without the abs block though, I've done this and the brakes work - albeit only around my mates garage and yard - no M.O.T so I will find out if it's any good, a few people have done this here and there.
