s1 ID on ebay???

So how many of you would admit to ringing a car when selling it on then, I bet not a single one of you, because of thedoubt it would put in peoples mind, plus its illegal and as warren says if done properly would need to go on a q plate and none of you would want that

No,they are fully trimmed road cars that have been broken up for spares as is the way with most cosworths and everything sold on including the honest I.d which goes who knows where.
How many 1.1 2 door escorts are wearing rs/Mexico number plates and chassis tags now, probably more than 50% at least

ok, turbocab.....
i have sold atleast 6 cars that have been reshelled using the rotten cars id`s, new owners didnt care as there were phographs before and after of honest cars.
tell me this, these focus, mk3/4 escorts that have cossie floorpans fitted, are they re-registered as sierras?
no.
what is a chassis number/VIN
have a think about it
im not being arsey here, as you cant read emotion on forums ok << see, smiley face!
just a conversation between friends
i personally dont see an issue with it, its commonly done, as said before Ford was rife with it in motorsport!
the chassis/shell is just a part like any other on the car.
how many perople done declare new engine numbers?
same shit different smell
and taking a UV lamp......... when i reshell things its full seamsealer`d seams and several layers of Schutz, UV hasnt got any chrystal balls
i can see right and i can see wrong, but not black and white.
how many times has your speedo went above the limit?
its a crime.......
doesnt matter if you puched your dick in your other halfs arse or fanny, when she`s asleep its a crime!

The law also has in place mechanisms to deal with reshells.
it just happens people dont like having a q plate as it devalues thier car, so theyd rather break the law instead.
Most cossie conversions should be reregistered and be on a q plate. only the ones built using a new shell can get away with a age related/new id by going the kit car route.
People may think its trivial to swap an id and not do it legitimately but if somehow it gets found out, you can loose the car, or more worringly, if you lie about it, some innocent punter can loose his newly purchased car and find out its worth a lot less than he thought.....
If youre doing it for "honest" reasons because you dont want a patched up shell, then why are people afraid of doing it legitimately by the book???
oh yeah because in a rare car scene, originality is everything and a q plate reshell is worth fuck all compared to an original car....

The escos with rs2000 Id was probably a motorsport shell, never seen it and not once have I said ringing is right.
I'm saying that it happens a lot more than you would like to believe.
Your name suggests your cab is a turbo,is that declared with the dvla?
Not being arsey either but this is the way I see it,I'd rather have a mint shell than a piece of paper that says 'rs' on it so I'll never ring a car for any reason,I would not buy a car that had it's identity swapped unless there was a genuine reason and proof of the exact story as to why it had been done, like it was a brand new unused shell.

And as for my cab inform the dvla of what? The fact my escort now has a 1.6 injection engine instead of what? My logbook states the correct engine no and my ins company knows of the mods so I have done everything required of me

but it still had an id off another car on it which is ringing, if all the parts were new then it could have been registered with the dvla as a ford escort 2.0 turbo, this I know as a fact due to knowing someone doing exactly this and getting a w registration.

Ahh the great ringer debate.
Agree with the above point that if it were paul NYRS (sorry to keep using your name mate!!) or Stu Sanderson "re shelling" theor car no - one would have an issue.
Just get over it guys, people have been re shelling cars since they were built!!!

A car has come up for sale bearing this plate, am S1 with windy windows and no floor numbers. I was going to view it tonight but I'm thinking I might steer clear after reading this thread and googling the reg plate

Wasn't there rules set out about needing to use a certain percentage of parts within that car such as engine , transmission etc to use the id? Although how that's meant to be proven ive no idea.
if you have the id that is the original vin. I expect it should also have an engine with the correct number matched to that vehicle but with older cars many will have had replacement engines probably undeclared anyway so hard to prove either way.if your reshelling your own car that's rotten you already have its id anyway and would most likely use that. the only reason I can think of to use a bought id like this is to claim unoriginal parts on a lower spec basic car thrown together is this vehicle for resale value purposes?
If you have a kit car, rebuild, or radically altered vehicle, DVLA will usually have to assess it.
You may be able to keep its original registration number if you can prove the vehicle’s original VIN. If you can’t, you’ll have to apply for a replacement identity number
