I was reading on some BMW forum and came across this:

They made on of the joints a floating one, because when you adjust the rose joints the distance between the joints changes. Is this also done on the 6 degree beams for the Cosworths, or do the arms just bend a little bit when the are adjusted?

Bending wouldn't be good. As far as i see it, the 'little' change it makes is within de amount the rosejoint can turn/twist inside itself. If you would go past that, well then you get some sort of bening/pre-load.

The rose joint cannot twist/turn in that direction. It's because the distance between the 2 rose joints because bigger or smaller when the rose joints are adjusted, but the mounts on the beam are still in the same position. But I guess the link I posted makes it more clear than I can explain.
