Bought a mk4 golf gti cause it was cheap from me mates next door neighbour. Ł1600 had it 2 years and its never let me down and does 35mpg. Cant justify an expensive car anymore even though i could afford basically anything i wanted

I mostly had classic audi's (ur quattro and audi s2's) just for the fact that they can take a hell of a beating, boxes's last and can put up with a lot, engine's go on forever. But the xr3i's, sapphires, rs turbo's that i've had are cheaper/easier to mod and are hard to resist.

chose the 3 dr as it was my schoolboy dream car. can piss off a 911 owner in a sierra!!

got the e39 m5 now because i am sick of wasting money on a cossie (although i still want another).
e39 m5.. 4 doors, big boot, manual, 440bhp v8, sleeper looking so doesnt stand out too much, comfortable and classy looking.

Had loads of Cossies and wasted Ł1000's on them lol...

Bought my current M3 CSL as I'd always wanted 1 and finally had the ŁŁ to buy 1.

Have always had Fords, the advantage of the old man working in Dagnam and getting a good discount on new motors back then, have had XR3i a couple of RS Turbos and then finally got the Sapph back in 1991 after seeing Spender on the telly which made me want one, so 21odd years later I can honestly say Spender made me buy my car

I was to go and view an S2 RS Turbo but the bloke would say call me back, then I'd call back and get no answer. He was a dealer so I guess he was not desperate for a sale. After the last attempt at arranging a view, I gave up. I needed a car and had Ł3000 spare to get something. I browsed Autotrader straight away and saw a MK6 RS2000 with 63,000 miles and in great condition. Ł2500 later, and I was mobile again. I took a gamble and am glad I did. It has been a faultless car for over 3yrs now. The Turbo has more fans, but I'm happy enough. It will be going this year though, as I feel a bit too long in the tooth for an Escort now.

I got my 4i after i couldn't find a good MKV Cortina, had it 10 years now.

My Moonstone 3dr i got because i had wanted one for years. It's not always a good idea to get your dream car

First proper car was my MK1 Focus Zetec 1.8. Spent quite a bit on that tuning it and doing it up and hankered after a MK1 Focus RS. Time went by and began thinking that an RS wouldn't be much of a change to what I had essentially would be the same car sitting in the same kind of interior with a more powerful engine and better handling. Always liked the sound of the ST but the pre facelift didn't appeal to me over a MK1 RS. I really liked the facelift ST's and so that was that. Only ever had two cars to myself but ST is easily the best car I've ever had and been in Evos and BMWs and the like and aside from the power of an Evo, ST does everything I require nicely.

Wanted a 3dr from the moment they first came out. Always remember seeing the advert on the tv of a Moonstone one going across the beach (Pendine Sands?) with a huge rooster tail of sand & spray behind it. 3 years later I got one. Still have it 23 years later. It's noisy, harsh and heavy to drive, but I still love every moment I drive it.

When I was 17 I was out with a friend in his mums Volvo 340DL, we pulled up behind an Escort RS Turbo and as we pulled out to pass it just fucked off up the road. I said then I wanted one of those and one of my less supportive friends told me there was no way I could achieve it. 2 years later I had my RS Turbo and I still have it now (36 now )

My Audi was case of wanting a Focus ST170 estate but couldn't find teh right car, got an Audi A4 Avant as a stop gap until a Focus turned up, ended up selling and buying a bigger engined Audi A4.
