Amal valve.....................how does?
It function??
Is this correct...........when the ignition is switched on, power is feed to the amal valve powering it into the 'non vent' position? If the boost level exceeds set limit power is cut via a signal and the amal valve returns to the vent default position??
Been wondering this because whilst my boost is strong, i have a spike then the boost drops off more than expected hence losing power.I'm stage 3 spiking at 25 psi, then boost drops off to around 18 psi.First consideration is actuator, but also whilst my amal valve does have an ignition feed it does not 'click'(ignition on or off) i assume it's not working hence venting off the boost pressure???? I'm running a T34. Regards Al.

remember went the amal valve is venting too the air box,, it is vent pressure which is being applied too the wastegate actuator, which is turn makes it run MORE boost!
the amal valve isnt a simple on off switch it is a PWM output,, meaning in simple terms it s a frequancy output

unplug your amal valve,, and if it is running less boost,, your amal valve is working

sorry the reply took so long,, ive been out and about everywhere

Yes mate, the amal valve should 'click' when the ignition is turned on!! found this out the other nite. As its hard 2 heard from inside the car turn ign on and take the connectors off then plug it back on and you'll hear it.

Toe thanks, mine gets a 12volt signal when the ignition is turned on but it doesn't click.I'll have to get another from somewhere to try..........anyone got one?

Also pretty sure on one of my old ones it didnt have any guts in it so spose it used to work just as a bleed
Basically saying it maybe a bit more involved than u thinking
And no soz cant offer any more help than the two things i already just put
Steve
pm stu for a complex version or look in the tech archives as theres a decent thread in there thats got all the techy info
as far as im aware the amal vavle pulses to control the boost level
do as gareth says and un plug it, that way ya running off the actuator only
