I own both, RWD is streets ahead when it comes to power @ the wheels, usually the next "stage" of tuning is equivilent to the 2wd, ie stage 1 RWD is roughly equal to stage 3 4x4.
Both have thier own individual merits, amazing how different they are to drive.

I don't know a great deal about T4s tbh, but can't you get many different spec'd ones and RB ones too? Surely they can't be that bad?? Yes i know GT-BWs are the way forward, but i'm an old dinosaur and think there's still something lovely about a T4'd cossie.

Without driving several t38 or t4 cars you can't really say their a bad turbo to use, on the right specced engine they can and have been proven to work brilliantly.
That said the Garrett GT's have been proven to do the business as well.
If you want to make the car more lively go with a 3.9 as Ronnie said, that IMO is one of the best mods you can do unless ridiculous top speeds are your main aim.

if you do decide to change theres the b/w efr 7064

t3 flange with a 0.83 a/r single scroll or 2 twin scroll options.
it seems that is there equivelant to a gt3071r.
if the hype is correct it should spool like a t34 with the top end power of a t4 best of both worlds.

it seems to me that all Rod was doing was trying to get you to consider that there may be a more modern turbo out there that will give you what you want in terms of power and response but you didn't see his point because of the way he put it across whereas scooby slayer has spelt it out for you
It must be the age barrier between older and mega older
And also scooby slayer managed to say it without a insult to the slow milk float spec 400
