If its a 150 they have some serious cam wear issues two people i work with have both had to have new cams and followers. Once the case hardening has worn through they wear like butter!! Not saying this most likly the problem just know its an issue!!

when cams go they tend to put swarf everywhere and destroy the buckets too.

head off, and change the oil pump too got good measure, make sure everything is super clean!!

with regards non starting......
pull 1 injector plug off at a time, and try to start it, if 1 injector goes down it wont let it start, this will identify the dead injector and it will start on 3 pots

just done an oil change, so not likely to be camshaft wear to blame, no metal in the waste oil at all, just black.
i'll try injector thing, vag com should be here tomorrow if all goes well though.

Nearly forgot about the intake manifold flap, that went last month too. Think I need to clue myself up on deleting the EGR, the gunk inside was horrendous.

split pipe s possible i can hear the turbo a bit to easily, but then again i've been out of turbo driven cars for a couple of months, so maybe it's unfamiliar.
egr has been off with the turbo and cleaned out, was pretty sooty, but not the worst i've seen.

The pipe that split on mine was an elbow off the cooler. Started really small.

Put a new pump in last night. Took some cranking to get going again though (longer than it took to fit the pump!)

Still no further on this, anyone local with vag-com who fancies helping an old man out?
Better if they also have bmw diagnostic tools too

Leaking intercooler from one if the end tanks, bit pissed off, but got a second hand one for Ł25.
All fitted and running much better.
No limp home yet, but only had a ten minute run.

I thought the issue was with the quality of the lead and not the software? If yours is ok then where ya get it?

either/or, i didn't end up with VAG-COM anyhow, just got very curious about the amount of turbo/air noise when in boost, so looked at boost pipes which seemed ok, then thought i;d clean the crap off the intercooler from the outside and thought i'd run some soap through the core to clear any oil out. That was the moment where the hose pipe couldn't get it full as the end tank had come away from the core and leaked out.
it is up on power, down on noise and seems to not be entering limp home mode which makes sense as the MAF is actually reading the air that is entering the engine, not like the loss under load and the extra air drawn in un-metered on cruise.

if i'd have driven it more i'd have noticed the increase of noise of air from turbo as it got worse, women, never notice things like that.

cheers all for your help

My misses had a 1.3 hcs escort mk5, same problem, still drove 100miles like that before she mentioned it though, pump was properly fucked by then.
