i lost interest in road going cosworths about 8 years ago , had a small spell wher i bought another 3dr because i thought it would be i good idea , sold it within 3 months , the problem is you just cant drive them how they need to be driven on the road a) because most people cant drive em anyway and crash em if the ambiant temp drops below 18 degrees and b) cause the pigs will book you for 0.0001mph over the limit so either way your fooked for road going performance cars - so what is the point in owning one ?

its not the car, its your lifestyle, hence why your reluctant to give it grief in the winter, and why your fed up, if you had owt else to do you wouldnt give a damn anyhow
your old before your time, wife, kids, house, family, etc
go get irrisponsible, its fun

If you need good weather to love a car then you dont really love it at all...
Its just a 'holiday romance' and we all know how they end...
A nasty rash and a course of penicillin !!!
Just drive the car you girl, I drive mine every day, whats the point in preserving it for the next owner.... fook them... you enjoy it !!!
The last thing you want to do is talk to Ian 'Bufty' 3Door... he'll have you stripping it, painting every last inch of it and polishing it to within and inch of its life and doin all of 50 miles a year in it.
You'll need that Range for the trailer...
........ 'Tiff the Buftyness is strong within you Tiff.....'
Alternatively, go on a 'Road Trip' fill it with mates and come to Ace Cafe on Monday night !!!

Other point, I commute 44 miles a day. Apart from the petrol costs. I tend to think its going through its faults far faster than if I drove it only in the evenings, weekends for pleasure. Which is probably why I think Im always paying for things to be fixed on it. I have to keep on top of maintenance or it becomes even more expensive.
Plus by driving it every day it lessens the "wow" feeling I get from it. It becomes a utility for getting me to work rather than my fantastic car.
Make sense?

I can see what you are saying...
But if he then sold the car to some one like me who uses their cossie, all he's done was kept it mint for them..... and he's the one who spent the fortune on mods and did no miles but still lost loads because as everyone knows you never get money back on the mods you've done.
I dont think the wow factor lessens really.. it still makes me smile when I'm sitting on the motorway minding my own business and get hussled by Porsches and stuff and then its foot down and off we go... only for a mile or two, just to prove the point..... they hate it....
Cars are meant to be driven..... people should enjoy their cars instead of just locking them in a garage.
The insurance is still the same if you do 300 or 3000 miles, 500 or 5000 or in my case... unlimited miles a year.
If you lived with a beautiful woman you wouldnt just shag her once a month in case you wore her out now would you !!!

This whole thread has got me really evaluating why I have the car. Why I virtually dont use it apart from commuting. Why I keep pumping money into it. Why have to be careful where I park it, why I'm paranoid about it being nudged in multi-storeys or vandalised or stolen.
As Markk said, you cant use it unrestrained on the road. So whats the point of having 140mph capability (tested ) Track Days interest me, but cant afford to have it break on me (or even worse)
In fairness, it seems theres quite a few people on here that dont use their cars much. They use their runabout or company vehicle. To preserve their RS/GTR/M3/Evo whatever. So whats the point in having Ł5-25K sitting around collecting dust? I understand its a hobby, and you dont do it to make money, but can anyone really justify to me?

I hardly use my cossie either,it sits in the garage, i find with 2 young kids i don't have the spare time like i used to have. Sometimes take it out on a sunday morning for a thrash now and again & in the summer will go to the pod a couple of times. I have been so tempted to sell it & buy another M3 again but convertable so the whole family can go out in it & enjoy it. My wife absoultly hates my cossie & has only been in it once in 2 yrs & will never go in it again ! Thing is if i haven't got a car to fiddle around with & buy a few bits for i get bored, the only thing you can do to an M3 is clean it !
I guarantee tiff if you sell your cossie you will end up getting another cossie at some point !
