Removing Vinyl
I am looking at car tomorrow, The car is a great spec but it has been chavved up a bit.
The owner has had a chequered vinyl stuck to the entire roof of the car.
How can this be removed without causing damage to the roof?
I would give the car a miss but it is fitted with some tasty parts which would cost more than
returning the exterior to standard.
Its not a ford btw, Its a Leon Cupra R

Depending on the quality of vinyl, it might come off without heat. If it wont come off without heat, don't use too much hat as it will leave glue and you will spend longer getting that off.
If it does leave glue either use Upvc cleaner or white spirits. Once glue is off clean with soapy water then give the roof a polish.

Cheers guys,
Here is the car, it obviously wont be staying like it is in the picture.
Ill be sourcing standard wheels and retuning the rest of the exterior to standard aswell.
mainly interest as it has alot of goodies fitted and it seems a pretty straight car

In always used a little heat, hot water or heat source. Trick is to be patient and take care. A few hours of your time is far cheaper than a paint job!
Autoglym intensive bug and tar is really good for removing glue and paint safe

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I own a company that does the minis stripes.
My advice is do not lean on the roof with your elbows as you'll dent it. See this everyday where the valetors have taken them off
Depends how long they have been on. Might have to be mopped to get rid of the ghost effect as the paint will have faded on the roof bits and the paint under the check will be brighter
Any probs drop me a pm

First thing is ask him if the roof has ever had a respray.
if not then heat gun or hair dryer. then remove glue with IPA, brake cleaner or white spirit.
certain good quality vinyl's are semi permanent so wont even need heat and wont leave much glue.
