I've been on here before with this problem which is still ongoing...so hoping there some new faces or experts that can advise?

PROBLEM...
2007 ford focus zetec climate TDCI 1.8 (diesel) bought private(i know mistake)

* When start it from cold I let the glow plug light go out, turn it over with no problems BUT... plumes of white smoke come out of exhaust AND it judders when driving? NOW this only happens until the car warms up then it drives fine no white smoke no juddering? it never looses power turbo kicks in when put foot down and engine management light NEVER come on?
I have had it to numerous garages including the robbers (FORD)!!
Below are the things I have had done to it so you can rule them out...

-FULL BRAND NEW EGR VALVE & MANIFOLD
-4 NEW INJECTORS
-FULL ENGINE SERVICE NEW OIL, OIL FILTER, AIR FILTER, FUEL FILTER,POLLEN FILTER.
-GLOW PLUGS CHECKED. ALL OKAY
-PISTONS PRESSURE CHECKED. ALL OKAY
-WIRING FROM EGR TO ECU. OKAY
-TIMING CHECKED. OKAY

So you can see why its causing me despare
most garages are saying that on diagnostic egr comimg up BUT ive had new one and wiring checked??

SO PLEASE CAN ANYONE HELP OR HAVE ANY IDEAS I'M DESPERATE...

if it was my car i'd fit a new injectors/egr loom. I can't remember how much it is (only about £100) and try it.

I have seen a few of these setting egr codes and replacment of this loom has cured it.

I appreciate it's an expensive stab in the dark but if you are sure you have checked/replaced the above parts then thats where i would go next.

 

Hi. Thanks for your advice. seems it must be baffling a few people with the very little response. sorry i dont know much if anything about cars.. what is a loom? would'nt this have already been on the full egr manifold i've had replaced?

Have you got to the bottom of this problem? Mines doing the same, 2007 focus 1.8 tdci smoking and misfire from cold, the smoke is diesel smoke not oil. fitted new egr valve, injectors, filters, I'm now told it's the dual mass, but the pick up point for the crank sensor is on the back part of flywheel that's bolted to crank so in my mind that can't move? I'm a mechanic of 24 years and can't get my head around this one

 

Have you tired the glowplugs? It seems when cold the 1.8 lynx needs glowplugs for a smooth start.
My Mondeo has started stuttering a bit when starting from cold so it's gone in today for new glowplugs, a full service, new rocker cover gasket, gearbox oil change and trailing arm bushes.

Bailes1992...you'll have to let me know how your car ends up after glow plugs? But did you car throw out constant white smoke?
Lee Palin. ..my car has gone back to the shitty same problem. I had a 2nd hand ecu fitted as a garage said it could be the cold start on the computer and nothing showed up on diagnostics as the computer would find a fault with itself. Anyway this solved it all for about a week or 2. So I'm still none the wiser I got fed up n just drive it now BUT it's still going even though it has the same problem.
Sorry this isn't much help but let me know if you do find the problem.
