Default Starter motor repair / overhaul

I have got a replacement starter motor for my car which I got from ebay. Although I have bench tested it to check it works it was a bit sticky with the first couple of operations so I would like to get it properly tested / overhauled if necessary before fitting.

Any ideas who I can send it to who will do a good job? I have been to my local auto electricians and he said they send them away for testing and couldn't give me a rough idea of cost.

Cheers

Rich

Not really sure what more they could check.
The brush pack should bolt on the end, could take that off to see how much meats left on them plus how good the armature is (shiny copper bit that is connected to the gear on the end),if it looks badly pitted/corroded etc.
Hopefully someone will be able to help more.
