hi mark
i dont understand how a fuel can make a crank rods pistons etc stronger ,if a 800 hp engine brakes on pump fuel why is it stronger on methonal ,not being funny i just dont understand ,on the block geoff has done, he says he has done it like bdt ie fire rings and o rings round the rest ,would a recess in the head and a copper ring and the the liner protruding so it bites in the copper ring then o ring the rest so studs are just pulling down on a smaller area than trying to clamp the full surface of the head block the pressure on the rings will be a lot higher for the same torque then if on the full surface of the deck

Also has(will have) four bolt main caps, thicker deck face, option of a taller deck height and nikasil liners and will not use a headgasket.

I think some people are just blind by a single number! Rods engine is very flexible and would knock spots off all these euro build one horse ponies,
F1 engines made the massive numbers as they reved very well!
There's a formula for power and it's, P X L X A X N
Cylinder pressure, length of stroke, area of piston and number of firing strokes.

The problem with most greek tuners, is that just about every car that goes on a dyno, experiences the world famous hear-say power upgrade every time someone quotes it.....
The even worse part is when a car is tuned and mapped to make a power figure at very specific revs just so the numer can be quoted.
As others have already said I would prefer a car that makes "some" power, but allover the rev range, hence is drivable

does it say in the article how much the escort weighs ?
178 mph suggests alot of power, means far more than any dyno sheet.
178 mph terminal at 1100 kgs suggests approx 1050 wheel horsepower !

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
I assume you would concrete fill the block for a flat out hp methanol engine with a solid copper head gasket?
The other reason people don't use pure methanol is you have to clean out the fuel system every time because its so corrosive.

Mark,I thought the idea of running Methanol was that you could run a lot more ignition in it to make the extra horses, but you have told me on several occasions that you would only be able to put in a couple more degrees in rods engine and it would not make that much difference.

To run Rods on it I would make a few changes and to take full benafit of it there would be lots of changes, But this is not going to happen as Rods is a road engine.

in which case if the driver is a lump like me almost 100 kgs its 1200 kgs car.
1200 kgs to terminal 178 mph will need 1150 wheel hp the power is proven right there.
heres where i get my info from, a graph robbie ward at rips linked up which has worked out pretty accurate for him and he has run a 6 second drag car, it also correlates well to my first r32 gtr and my supra terminals my times were slower due to launch but terminals bang on for the power.

As Lee says there a lot of cars in Malta running ybs but unknown power but several standard body ones run 8s ,kalanc I think best was 7.4 but use to allways run high 7 s on a good day, also the ford probe with ybt years ago ran 7s obviously don't know what power and vehicle weight but they are obviously high hp,but some in Malta have been known to run 50 to 60 psi ,especially when racing the v8 dragsters lol

hi robert
i think it will ,he wouldnt have had castings done etc if he hadnt done his home work ,and when you think f1 cars were making 1400/1600 bhp out of 1600 /1800 cc cars over 10 years ago 1000 out 2000 cc seems easy lol ,if someone had really spent time developing the yb it would be common now ,people thought 500 was maximum a few years ago now 700 /800 is common

hi james
i will start a thread in the nxt few weeks ,i wanted to have car (pickup)lol nearly done first so there wasent big gaps between updates ,but it will be good i think there are lots of new ideas and parts on it ,plus with me been fortunate to have the machines most parts are billet or titainium lol ,so with my very trick scs motor and my running gear and paddle flat shift etc it should go quite well
