NTL Broadband Speed increase

Rudey - I only notice it was availible to upgrade when iw as pointed out i could. They probably will upgrade you automatically i entered my details modem switched off for a minute or 2 then volia. Done a speed test. and

well yeah so i hear my current 1.5 will be upgraded to 3 but fook that im gonna drop back down to 1.5 for 15 quid as alot of people are being conned by this ulimately everyones capped and will never have true 3meg mine dips below 1 meg when scholls empty that shows ya dont it 3meg maybe when every other coonts switched off

ok, im a settop box user and i wont be upgraded till april 
however, in the meantime i can go from the silver 700k service (@25pm) to the bronze service (@18pm) and since the bronze is now 1mb it'll be faster for cheaper :cry then in april, roll on 3mb
just gotta wait for my mum o get in as she's the account holder so gotta make the change :P

ok, rung back to get it swapped, turned out what i said above was complete bollocks
my STB can only do 300k or 700k thats it. they wont let me have the upgraded set top bo till april. also if i wanted a cable modem they'd SWAP my stb for a cable modem... welll thats nice but what about if i wanted to watch the fookin telly

ok it worked 
pops... do the following...
ring: 0800 0522000 (type your phone no then take option 2)
sit on hold for 10mins
tell them you want to change your silver 700k service to the bronze 1mb service.
they will change it (and charge you 7quid a month LESS)
reboot your set top box (pull the plug out)
it will now be 1mb

All you do is fit a coaxial spliter to the ntl point on the wall, plug the set top box in and then the new modem, advise ntl of the new mac address and away you go.
But at least you got it sorted in the end, they told me on the phone it will go up automatically to 3mb in the next week or two.

pops, silver will goto 2 meg... but it wont be for a few months yet. might aswell take advantage for those 2 months... you can change it back when 2mb is available its not a 12month minimum or anything...
