Default Momdeo tdci cutting out.

Hi can anybody give me a clue to why my 04 mondeo tdci cuts out with the glow plug light fashing. I have read many other posts about the same problem but mine always cuts out after about 3 miles or about 5minutes driving when started from cold. It sometimes starts again straight away but more often i have to wait 5 minutes before it will start. If i get past this point without it cutting out it wont cut out at all unless i let stop and let it cool down then it may do it again at the same point. It seams to happen just as the engine reaches normal temp. Once it has cut out and restarted it wont do it again. Any suggestions please.

Yea as Glenn says wen last was it done? Av also had 1 of these do exact same thing and it was goosed injectors! These cars are bad for injectors, any shite atall goin through them, fuck them. And ther deer aswell! It would be ideal to see what the fuel presure is wen runing, would need diagnostic equipment right enough.

Got to admit it has been a while since the fuel filter was last changed and it had crossed my mind. However i dont understand why it would drive perfectly after it has restarted and the fault never reapears unless its stopped and allowed to cool down. Its allways as the car reaches normal temp as if its switching something at that point and detecting a fault. The car drives perfectly otherwise, no smoke, full power and about 50 mpg average. Will change the fuel filter though as a matter of course and report the result.

There are loads of potential reasons from the cheap to the very expensive. Get the fault codes read and take it from there.

We have loads of trannys at work and tbh we hardly ever get any trouble with them.We had one van that had 250,000 miles on it.

Yeah I agree get the codes read.
There is a tsb out for these off a few year ago now but it's got something to do with the colour of the cam sensor I think it needs changing if its grey but if its black its ok (might be the other way round can't remember)
Or we used to have problems with transits (similar engine) when the van got to normal temp it would cut out then restart and it was cylinder head temp sensor.

Good luck mate

Cheers, that one sounds feasable, cos its certainly temp related, I will get the codes read tomorrow see if they confirm that, thanks again.

Had the codes read today, seams its the camshaft sensor, so i will get one tomorrow change it and post the result. Bit surprised though cos i would have thought the fault would be a bit random where as mine is very predictable, it is now cutting out every time i drive it, its always the same distance from starting or the same time driving and always as the temp reaches normal.
