Yeah I agree get the codes read.
There is a tsb out for these off a few year ago now but it's got something to do with the colour of the cam sensor I think it needs changing if its grey but if its black its ok (might be the other way round can't remember)
Or we used to have problems with transits (similar engine) when the van got to normal temp it would cut out then restart and it was cylinder head temp sensor.
