Default Optimum settings for Gaz coilovers on Escos.

Just recieved mine today from Cossymad with 325lb fronts and 225lb rears. What setting do i put the shocks on? I've been told full soft on the rear and mid way on the front, does that sound bout right??

Also, i'm after a 25mm drop on the car, does anyone have any dimensions for the spring platforms from a set point on the shocker so I can set them before fitting to the car and then I can fine tune them once fitted

sorry mate trial and error only

i recon about 15 notches up from the bottom is a good place to start from... but you deffo have to do it by trial and error. luckily yours are new and you should be able to twist the platform by hand

mine are midway on both front + rear but i run a lot softer springs than you on the back!

As it's on coilovers get it corner weighted. And as Jim says, trial and error is the only way to find out what suits your style. I spent two weeks trying different settings. I eventually settled on about 3/4 hard on the front and 1/4 hard on the rear but I do have competely different spring rates to yours

when you say 15 notches up, do you mean 15 threads showing beneath the spring platform? is that front and back??

yeah i mean that...

what you SHOULD do it set em so the spring doesnt hang loose... as this is actually an MOT failure :P but that'll probably give you the rideheight of an X5

That's like say - "What is the best colour Cossie" or "Who has the prettiest girlfriend"

Ride / handling is subjective so set it up best to suit YOU .

Start at the softest on the rear (because the springs are mismatched ) and about mid-setting on the front and then adjust the front up or down by 4 clicks at a time until you start to get close, then adjust it a click at a time. Do the same to the rears. If the softest setting is still too soft, then 4 clicks up and see how you go. If on the softest setting it is still too harsh, then you have just discovered for yourself that the rear springs are too hard and should be below 200lb .

The damping should be set the same either side, or the car may pitch one side or the other...
