Hi everyone.
I own a 2008 ford focus, 1.6 tdci (220000 km). The engine suddenly stopped working while driving in 3rd gear. There have been no reaction and a sound of the engine while trying to restart it. Nothing!!!
The tank was full. and the battery is full.

What do you think is the problem?

snapped belt / chain or failed tensioner i reckon!

the belt is still on..but i don't know how is tensioned.

It can be fixed? and how much is the cost for the repair?

I'm not sure on these engines. If the belt fails then it usually destroys the engine. To be honest I'd have a local mechanic look at it.

The car started a day later. once it lost power for a second while i was driving it back to the garage. The engine sound is like that:

a loud chain like sound..but has been there when i took it to the last service, and they said is nothing..i don't believe is nothig. As far as i know this ford has a timing belt and not a chain.

If that's the PSA engine then suffer with excessive carbon build up that causes problems, including blocking the oil pickup strainer.
