no thats not a genuine map sensor bracket , the genuine ones had a bolt welded onto the one side which went through the inner wing with a nut on the other side i think somewhere i have got a early one in alloy ,i will look for it and post some pics

yes as discussed last night there are 2 other types of map sensor bracket.
RS500 have a smaller stepped back bracket to clear the throttle body. (info by Pete)
Also very early type 500's has a different backet which mounting the map sensor vertically, this caused issues with water penetration, so were recalled by Fords to be changed for the other type. (Info By Spadge)

Gus, you are correct about how the sensor was connected to the bracket.
Only problem is there are no holes which match the bracket in the inner wing.
Is Darren Barber a PF member?

I have an original new Ford stamped cast Alloy RS500 map sensor adapter plate which is for sale if I can find it in the garage - pm me your best offer and I will dig it out on the weekend and send you a pic

great to see no4 is alive and well i know where no's 1,2,3 are as i said i will look 2moro for you mate look for the post but from memory it looks like mine remember these cars were prototypes so may be a little different to the other 496 rs500
