I've got a Clio 172 cup track car ( Dicko and Sarah's )
Old car !!

It goes very well for what it is !

I've put 15" alloys on it , and ds2500 pads front and rear !
It's got magnex cat back exhaust , remap ,cold air induction filter ,ported inlet and ramap !!

Just done a track day a few weeks back at oulton park !

Superb cheap fun and car doesn't owe me a fortune !!

Christmas trackday calling for me I think !!

Owned mine since new. Would never sell it. Fantastic little cars. Performance vs mpg even with mods is just crazy good.

Buy a good one and you won't regret it

I prefer phase 1 from the front but phase 2 from the back.

Sorry but that looks like a black base model, you could put a learners triangle on the roof and give driving lessons

You KNOW it's a hot hatch with a phase 1 in your mirror

Clio 172/182- brother owned 2, very good standard, quick and handle very well. Build feels cheap e.g hand brake can move left and right with not much effort. As for not fast in a straight line, they use to stick with ep3 civics. All in all top track car.

St170 focus- I owned 1 after my rs2000 didn't think it handled as great as people say but I don't think most people push them as hard as I do. They under steer bad in my opinion and with the suspension being soft didnt give me confidence in throwing it about.
Very nice car to drive, very very slow no top end and mpg was shocking.
All in all nice daily if you don't mind living at the fuel station

Curpa Ibiza - nearly bought 1 test drove 3 then realised they were wank! Slow, handle like shit and horrible to drive. But I have a mate with 1 and he loves it lol
All in all wank

It's 1 of those were people will agree and disagree. I love rs2000's very underrated car, most people hate them. Yea I would chose an mk1 rs focus over 1 any day but they aren't 1.5k

If it was me I would have a ph1 172 stripped out with a couple of bucket seats in.

Or an rs2000 : ) don't handle great standard but I got mine handling sweet, fairly fast too. Build is very soild.

Love mine. much prefer looks of Ph2. Mine looks meaner at front now as has big brake ducts holes and lower grill opened up for oil cooler and power steering cooler.

Ph2 block, Forged engine with higher comp pistons, steel rods, Ported Ph1 head, superdooper valves, cams, ITB's... spec'd and built and mapped by Chip and Tank Mike.

Puts power down through a plated Gripper LSD. AST suspension and set up by Mark Fish Motorsport.

All tucked away looking shiny and lovely

If I told you... You wouldn't believe me

Upwards of 30k for sure. I had it built for me though and there were some big labour bills...

Chip and mike didn't charge me A PENNY labour on the engine though!!!
That was ALOT of work and heartache for them!!

Love them longtime x

Still love it though like that old ratty dog people have on that chair in the corner of a front room that looks ripped and got brown patches on

Not sure I'd want to spend 30k on a Clio but that does look the bollocks!

Very strange............. They're awesome cars just shit of fuel I owned a low mileage one and I've owned RS2k, 172/182's and I now have a Focus RS and still maintain that the St170 just wanted another 50bhp to be amazing. Guess what the Focus RS is (sort of).

Cars looking good Lee, like the way you have kept the standard door panel to keep some level of normality in the cabin.
Would of thought you would have uprated engine mounts though, i noticed very little change in vibration with them fitted but engine movement is almost non existant.

It may just be the fact that I come from my rs2000 that handled really well.s for power I still think they are silly slow and could get mine to go more than 110mph. Mine had the leather recaros too, so it was a real nice car to drive.

Focus rs is my next car if I can get back on my feet finacally.o

Probably something wrong with it mate - I never had that issue.

Lots of people have said that and Chip and Mike wanted to....

but Mark Fish and Fred at BTM say you should use new standard Renault mounts but with a powerflex dogbone one So thats what I have stuck with.

trust me, I'd like to have gone uprated as they look cool and it certainly wasnt down to skimping on the budget

Its a pretty nice road car still. The rear is VERY stiff though, It has mental rear springs rates... BUT when I drive it over to ring its normally loaded up as a van with spare tyres for it and the other cars with me! and this TOTALLY transforms the ride I've driven it non stop over to Ring on my own and its fine! I can get really comfy in there and thats the reason I kept the doorcards. I use the arm rest on them. The Carbon ones look much cooler. But its a comfort thing for the long trips it does. My little sister LOVES it. She prefers driving it to anything else I have. as does her husband!

Hows your gearbox? my synchros are starting to go.

your st was seriously sick mate. true they are not awesome fast but it sounds like your imrc was broke. heavy mpg and no power is symptoms of this. either way you had a bad one and no stock rs2000 would beat a stock st170 on handling. maybe driven by a tool on the road but not on the track

Soon be a £33k car?

You sure don't hold back on cars, which is good going by who drives them. Atleast they are built right and safe. (no offence to others on this forum mind)

Keep it up.

So far my box is fine Lee but havent had it on track with the extra power, but on the local back roads by me it has been fine.
Im tempted to refit some of the front interior trim to mine so i can use it as a daily, if I sell my range rover. With the suspension backed off a bit its actualy fairly nice to drive on the road, just a bit noisey in the cabin.

Dash is totally different, cruise is only on very late ph2s (53 reg I think) and then 182. Seats are similar design but different trim pattern. Obviously opinions vary, seems younger drivers prefer Ph1 and older (me) prefer Ph2. To me the Ph2 just looks better inside. I'll post pics now.
