Default RS500 question

We are rebuilding my m8 RS500 and we don't know where and how the MAP sensor bracket is located. It is not the same as our LHD 3 dr cossies.
Pics would be great!!!

I know it's there but there are no holes which fit the bracket.
I'm not sure if it is a genuine bracket but I think it is.
The MAP sensor sticks a little bit out the bracket.

It's a genuine RS500 so that shoul be good.
From what I can see he has another bracket then the picture.
My 3dr has the same bracket as in the picture but maybe a RS500 has another or he has a homemade piece of shit bracket.
Thanks for the help!

nope the 500 one is exactly the same as the 3dr item.

So unless he has a home made job on there you have 2 options.

1. Your not looking hard enough.
2. Its infact not a 500 shell and a 1.6L shell as these didnt run map sensors

We really looked for hours and didn't find it.
It really is a strange bracket but it doesn't look homemade.
The sensor is fitted in an angle and sticks out a bit on the side where you have to put it against the car. It would need some big spacers before it could even fit.
I think I can come to the conclusion that it's not a genuine bracket.

Most early cossies were fitted with a cast alloy map sensor bracket that fitted further forward on the inner wing and that and the map sensor sat flat against the inner wing! These were recalled by Ford i believe as they allowed moisture to get to the map sensor wiring/plug! Some no doubt slipped through the net and i have seen a couple with the earlier ones fitted. Maybe this is the type you have? If so it won't bolt into the usual place!

Spadge, as you seen them can you tell me if the sensor sticks a little bit through the bracket because I think that could be the one.

The sensor sticks out a little on all map sensor brackets that i have seen
Bart can't you get a pic of the one you have?

Or perhaps Mark can put one up of his for comparison?

Markk, that is not like the one we got.
It has three holes for the map sensor but has no threaded holes and two holes to put it against the car if you use spacers because the map sensor sticks through.
It's not traingular at all, it looks strange and I still think it is not genuine.

Bart i have never seen a genuine Ford item that didn't have threaded holes for the bolts so i would also say that from your description yours is after market!

Spadge, I will try to post pics tommorrow.
If you bolt the sensor to the bracket it is in a special angle througt a hole so the sensor comes throught the bracket on the side where it mounts to the car.
If there were two holes on the inner wing that would fit the bracket you have to use spacers because of the sensor fauling the inner wing.
Hope this makes sense and understand what I mean.
